The puppet collections of the institute, containing nearly 500 pieces, reflect the diversity of Puppetry: materials, manipulation techniques or styles. Mainly originating from Africa (Togo, Mali, Valley of the Niger) Asia (Turkey, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka and others) and Europe (the Basque country, the UK, France, Romania), the oldest pieces date back to the 19th century. They bear witness to legendary epics, cultures and beliefs.
